In a Dollar-for-Dollar Match, FTC Doubles Proceeds from Veteran & Military Network (VMN) Virtual Fundraiser to Donate $10,000 for Veterans in Need
FTC matches proceeds raised through an employee-driven virtual fundraiser, doubling its donation to a non-profit organization that trains service dogs for Veterans suffering from PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Depression and physical disabilities
VIENNA, VA
The FTC Veteran & Military Network (VMN), an employee-driven professional affinity group that provides a community of support, volunteerism and engagement for FTC employees who are Veterans, current Reservists, or spouses of uniformed servicemen and women from across all five branches of the US military, recently hosted “Paws for a Cause” – a Virtual Raffle fundraiser to benefit a Veteran-run non-profit that provides service dogs to Veterans in need. With the generous support of the FTC corporate leadership team donating a range of exciting items as raffle prizes, the employee resource group engaged FTC employees across the company to purchase tickets at just $5 each for the chance to win prizes in a random drawing and raise funds for this impactful veteran-related organization.
Over just two weeks, the initiative raised $5,000 from the sale of more than 900 virtual raffle tickets. As well, “Paws for a Cause” provided the FTC Family an opportunity to gather virtually for a Happy Hour Event and connect as a community to celebrate the winners of the virtual raffle drawing. During the Happy Hour event, Amanda Baity, Director of Operations for Semper K9, accepted the donation on the organization’s behalf and shared information about the Semper K9 mission to rescue and train shelter dogs to become service dogs for Veterans suffering from the negative effects of PTSD, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), depression, and more – at no cost to the Veteran.
In a generous show of support both for the VMN initiative and for the Semper K9 mission, FTC pledged to match every dollar raised for a total donation of $10,000.
“As an employee affinity group, the VMN mission is two-fold: to carry out FTC’s corporate commitments to support Veterans by giving generously to non-profit organizations that provide critical support to the Veteran and Military community, and to provide a forum for positive connection and community for the FTC Family,” commented VMN Chair Mitchel Flemming. “We’re proud that, despite the remote nature of our coordination efforts, this initiative successfully achieved both. With the incredible support of corporate leadership in donating big-ticket raffle items and in matching proceeds from the raffle for double the donation, we were able to generate great excitement around an impactful non-profit organization and bring the FTC Family together virtually to make a difference to Veterans in need.”
