Going the (Social) Distance Together
The FTC Family Raises $10,000 for COVID-19 Relief Through a Virtual 10K Wellness Challenge
The FTC Family enjoyed going the (social) distance together with a Virtual 10K Wellness Challenge that had FTC employees around the country getting up and active for a good cause.
In recognition of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month in May, FTC’s Virtual 10K Wellness Challenge encouraged FTC employees to walk, hike, run, or bike a total of 6.21 miles outside or on indoor fitness equipment. Participants were encouraged to complete the 10K however they felt comfortable, at their own pace, and on their own schedule. Whether completing the 10K challenge at one time or in small increments over a few weeks – outdoors while walking the dog or on a treadmill or stationary bike at home – employees were asked to track their own progress and aim to reach 6.21 miles by mid-June. Participants successfully completed the challenge by submitting a photo of themselves wherever they were at the 6.21 mile mark.
For every employee who successfully completed the Virtual 10K Wellness Challenge, FTC pledged to make a donation to support Elizabeth Dole Foundation COVID-19 Relief for Military Caregivers.
With great enthusiasm, the FTC Family across the country rose to the challenge by getting active – many completing the 10k multiple times. Within the three week period, the FTC Family raised an incredible $10,000 for COVID relief.
Through this Wellness Challenge, the FTC Family was able to give back to others in need while enjoying the benefits of physical activity and staying safe with social distancing.
